    Attendance Matters:

    Our goal everyday is to have at least 95% of students in attendance.

    • 89% of Pell students are in school today  
    • This means that 95 students missed school today.

    School News:

     

    Let your voice be heard: ​You will have the opportunity to give anonymous feedback about your children’s school through SurveyWorks, a statewide survey that asks you questions about the learning environment of schools.​ Flyers were sent home this week.​ Our goal is to reach 300 responses.     Combined Art Show & Strings Concert Showcase: “Every Picture Tells a Story” inspired works by American Painter & Illustrator NORMAN ROCKWELL. March 6th from 6-7:30pm.  Concert starts at 6:30, artwork show is ongoing.  Wall to wall student artwork K-4th grade throughout Pell School. Treats and Refreshments at the event.

     

    After School News: Confirmation letters for session 3 of after school programs went into teacher mailboxes Thursday. Students should have brought them home. If you think you should have received one and did not, please reach out to our CLC office at  842-1925 ext 7.

     

    Volvo Ocean Race: COMMUNITY INVITED - CHOWDER NIGHT  WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7

    5:30 P.M. ~ 7:OO P.M. at PELL SCHOOL

    UPDATE on the Race Village to be open to families with free admission ENJOY complimentary chowder and hear about the exciting event coming to Newport May 8 ~ 20

    PTO News

    • Our Cherrydale fundraiser continues and forms/online orders are due Monday 2/26
    • It’s our second BOX TOP contest month in February! Forms have been sent home with your student and we appreciate all your help collecting & sending in your box tops! We are now collecting DIMES 💰 in addition to box tops as they are worth the same value! Get those ziploc bags ready and send them in to school by Monday feb 26th. Thank you ✂️

     

    • Pell PTO Facebook Group:

    Community Happenings:

    • 13th annual  Ballard Park Illuminated Garden: February 22, 23 & 24 from 6-9pm. Enjoy an evening walk in the quarry meadow of Ballard Park when it is transformed into a magnificent garden of lights and sculptures made by area students. The Illuminated Garden will be held weather permitting (check www.ballardpark.org or call 619.3377 for advisories in the event of bad weather). Event goers are advised to wear appropriate shoes or boots as the trail may be muddy and uneven and bring a flashlight to guide them down Hazard Road. Park at the Wickham Road lot of Rogers High School (15 Wickham Road) and walk down Hazard Road to the quarry meadow entrance.

     

    • Upcoming Events at the Newport Library: Newport Public Library

    These programs for all ages are a personal favorite and free. Proximity to parking is ideal. I implore you to look at the full schedule. February highlights are below.

    Music with Sarah Gardner – Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 0-8.

    Magical Unicorn Stories & Craft – Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. Ages 3-7.

     

    • Summer Sailing Camp at Sail Newport: Come join sail Newport this summer for fun on and near the water!  Sailing is something anyone can enjoy - no experience necessary!  One and two week all day programs for ages 7 – 16 years. Online registration closes end of day February 18th: https://sailnewport.worldsecuresystems.com/youthprograms/youthregistration18  There is no commitment at this time – once a space is offered for a particular session (February 23rd), you have until March 15th to decide to commit.  Sail Newport has a robust financial aid program. Please call if you have any questions or need a hand with the online sign-up – we want to give the opportunity of sailing to everyone!
