  • At last night’s school committee meeting, the committee considered changing the school starting times this fall.  The action was delayed until the May 8th, 2018 school committee meeting to allow ample notice be given to the community about the proposed changes. The proposed change would bring the school start time to what they were originally, prior to the change in RHS starting time, and the school days being considered are:

                Rogers High School                   7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

                Thompson Middle School           8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

                Pell Elementary School              8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

    These changes will be considered for approval at the May 8th, 2018 school committee meeting.  If you have concerns or questions about the new school starting times, please reach out to your school committee members or the Superintendent of Schools.

    ***IMPORTANT things to know for the last day of school***

    • The last day of school will be a special “wear your favorite hat” day.
    • We will have an all school evacuation drill and students will be walking to their evacuation sites. Please be sure students are wearing comfortable shoes and cool clothes.
    • The all students will have a lunch period and the cafeteria will be providing bag lunches with sunbutter and jelly sandwiches (this is the ONLY option for the day), or they may bring a lunch from home.
    • dismissal will be at 12:20. Dismissal procedure will be as usual.


    Summer Meals for Kids: If you have a child in need of breakfast and/or lunch this summer, simply text “FOOD” to 877877 and receive a message back with a location closest to where they can get free summer meals. Even if you aren't in need, someone's kids might be. No child deserves to go hungry, ever. This is a nationwide program so please share for all those struggling to get enough food so that no child goes hungry this summer. Hosted by No Kid Hungry.

    Summer Meals Kick off Party: Join the RI Summer Meals Program for a Party in your Neighborhood Summer Kickoff party on on June 28th at 11am at Miantinomi Park. The summer meals program and kick off event is for students 18 years of age and under.
