• Mrs. Donnelly

Hello all!  My name is Mrs. Tricia (Milburn) Donnelly.  I have been teaching in the Newport Public Schools for 22 years.  I have taught 3rd grade and 4th grade, but hands down, fourth grade is my favorite to teach!

I am a proud product of the Newport Public School system.  I attended a variety of elementary schools starting with Carey Elementary School, Underwood Annex and Underwood Elementary School, Thompson Jr. High School and Rogers High School.  I continued my education with a Deaf Studies degree from Northwestern Connecticut Community Technical College, a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Deaf Education from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida and a Master’s degree in Reading from the University of Rhode Island.

In addition to teaching elementary school,  I have been teaching American Sign Language at Salve Regina University for 23 years and I have coached Fastpitch softball at Rogers High School for 19 years as well as two travel softball teams throughout the summer in the past.

Some of my favorite things to do other than teaching children are practicing Irish Dancing (I have been dancing since I was 5 years old), traveling with my husband, spending time with friends & family, cooking and exercising.

One of the most amazing honors that has taken place in my teaching career is that I was named the 2017 Newport Public Schools Teacher of the Year.  I am extremely humbled by this award and thankful to those who nominated me for this accolade.

I believe in the power of learning to change lives and look forward to doing so each and every year I teach!
