Early Childhood ServicesOffered to families in Newport and Middletown, early childhood services offered by East Bay Community Action Program, in partnership with the NFCOZ, improve parent knowledge of child development, develop parenting capabilities, and promote school readiness through personal visits utilizing a national scientifically valid and research-based early childhood curriculum known as Parents As Teachers.
The Parents as Teachers model consists of four components:
- Personal visits
- Parent group meetings
- Screenings (developmental, health, vision, hearing, and social/emotional screening for early identification of potential delays and/or problems)
- Resource network
A certified Parent Educator provides all four service delivery components, customized to meet the needs of each individual family. The program offers weekly playgroups and other enrichment programs such as music, movement, and art.
