Welcome to Thompson Middle School!  I am excited and honored to have been named Principal of the school that I not only attended as an adolescent, but also taught in as an English Language Arts teacher for the past 31 years.  Those experiences have given me a unique insight and vision into what I believe makes for a quality middle school experience and it is my goal to provide that for all of the students who walk our halls.

TMS wants every child to be his or her best and be allowed access to all opportunities.  We strive to be a school that challenges and raises our students to new levels.  Our experienced faculty, which includes several District Teachers of the Year as well as a State Teacher of the Year, is committed to the growth and success of all students.  In addition to our standards-based academic programming and varied exploratory classes, we offer a wide range of activities for our students to participate in.  From National Junior Honor Society to yearbook and interscholastic sports to Student Council, there is something for all interests.  In addition, the Newport Community School, which is housed here at Thompson, provides both after school academic and enrichment activities.  Keep your eyes open for their informational materials and sign up quickly as their classes tend to fill up.  Please encourage your child to become involved in the TMS community!

Your support is crucial throughout your child’s education.  If you have concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers or guidance counselor.  You do not have to wait for parent-teacher conferences to schedule an appointment.  The teachers have available meeting times throughout the school year.  Also, be sure to set up an account with our Aspen Parent Portal.  This will allow you access to your child’s grades at all times.

In the coming months, I hope to see you at one of our many events.   By working together, we can ensure that everyone has a successful school year.
