Pell Elementary School

Pell Elementary School is happy to announce that we will kick off another year of the Walking School Bus (WSB).  The WSB is a fun and safe walk to school that will ensure your child’s arrival to school on time.

Pell students are welcomed to join us for the Walking School Bus kickoff on:

Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 7:45 am

At the corner of John Chaffee Rd. and West Evans St.

The route will proceed from there along a designated route to the Pell Elementary School every school day.

Let’s get this bus moving.

This is an adventure your kids do not want to miss!

Let us know if you are interested in becoming a route leader. All volunteers will be trained and screened. We are recruiting several volunteers who are able to commit to walking every day for a Paid Stipend Volunteer position.  Please inquire for more information.

Please contact Program Coordinator, Latisha Michel, at or 401-842-1900 x29746 for more information, to register your child, or to volunteer to walk.

The Walking School Bus Program is coordinated by the Newport Family and Child Opportunity Zone, a Program of East Bay Community Action Program, in partnership with Newport Public Schools and the City of Newport. This project is supported by the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Program and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation with funding provided by the US Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration through the Safe Routes to School Program.
