2018 SkillsUSA Rhode Island Career and Technical Educator of the Year Mrs. Monica Awde Wlodyka - Academy of Information Technology Newport Area Career and Technical Center

Monica has been a business teacher at Rogers High School in Newport since 1988. In 2001 she became the CTE program instructor of the Academy of Information Technology. Monica's students have been competing in SkillsUSA ever since.  Since 2009, the Newport AOIT program has sent 10 students to the national competitions, mostly in the field of Technical Computer Applications. Monica was named an "Educator of Distinction" by the National Society of High School Scholars in 2004, and she received the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award in 2013. She has an MBA from the University of Rhode Island and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. We thank Monica for everything that she does to inspire her students and for her support of SkillsUSA Rhode Island.

The CTE Educator of the Year award is given to an educator that is not a SkillsUSA RI chapter advisor. They have a passion for CTE and teaching and they encourage their students to take an active role in the organization.
