Principal Traci Westman’s message of the day: Enjoy the little things, for one day you might look back and find they were the big things - Robert Brault

Attendance Matters: Our overall goal for the year is to have 95% of students in school every day, throughout the year. If your child is ill, by all means keep them home until they are well, but otherwise, please help us reach our goal! Today’s attendance is 94.4% so 47 students were absent today.

After School News: Wednesday & Thursday programs end this week (14th and 15th), and Monday & Tuesday programs end next week (19th and 20th). We are expecting to send home Session 2 applications home when we get back from Thanksgiving break. Session 2 starts in January.

Early Release 11/21- On Wednesday, November 21st (the day before thanksgiving), Pell school will have a half day. All Pell students will be released at 11:45 and all students will be served lunch, or have the opportunity to eat their home lunch, before dismissal. Normal bus routes will be in effect but they will be departing from school at 11:45.  Please plan accordingly!! Champion Childcare WILL be in session. Please check in with them about timing.

Federal Impact Aid Forms: All students have brought home a federal impact aid form that we need to get back for each and every student. If you are not employed by the military or live on federal property (Ft Adams, Farragut Field, Chapel terrace, Newport Heights, Hart Field, on the Base, Park Holm), the form is as simple as verifying your child’s information on the top, and signing the bottom. If you DO work for the military, either military or civilian, then fill out boxes 1-3 as indicated). Impact Aid forms are very important to our schools and district because the federal government gives money to the district for any and all people working for or associated with military work.

Look for the Good Project: Look for the Good Project: We are pleased to announce Pell School will once again participate in the Look for the Good Project.  The Look for the Good Project is a Gratitude and Anti Bullying campaign that asks students to identify the good they see in everyday life.  Over the course of 2 weeks, Pell students will add a daily gratitude sticky note to the gratitude walls throughout the school. Students choose what they are grateful for that day, no gratitude is too small.  Students will also participate in kindness cards and the older students will write a letter to a person who has had an impact in their life. The gratitude walls will remain up through the end of the year so parents have an opportunity to read some of the notes.  The project will kick off November 19th.

Multicultural Night: Our 5th annual multicultural night will be taking place on Friday, November 30th. Sign up sheets went home with students this week. We invite you to come to Pell, represent your country or culture and show it off! Bring music, costumes, book,s food (to taste), maps, etc. For those not representing their country, come enjoy a TRIP AROUND THE WORLD!

Newport County Dinner Club Fundraiser: Pell School has once again partnered with the Newport County Dinner Club for an annual fundraiser. Students will be selling dinner club books that offer 2 for 1 meals at over 70 local establishments and they brought home information (on green paper) and order forms last week. Books are sold for $19 and $5 of each sale goes to the Pell PTO. Orders are due back to school by November 16th.  Every student who sells 15 books will receive a $10 gift certificate to Ben & Jerry’s or Olympia Sports. Every student who sells 30 books will get a $25 card to Itunes or Olympia Sports.

After School Program Survey: Our After School Program is collecting feedback on after school programs and the Oct. 4 Mini Camp. The survey is anonymous, but after you submit it, you can enter you name and contact information to be entered into a raffle. We will pick 3 winners.
