CLASS OF 2019

■ The Class of 2019 is having a fundraiser at Chipotle this Saturday, May 5th, from 4-8 pm. If you mention this announcement, bring the flier or show it on your phone, 50% of the proceeds will go to support the class. Please head to Chipotle and get your Cinco de Mayo burrito to support the Class of 2019. 

BOOSTERS

■ The Rogers Athletic Boosters will be holding their May meeting today, Wednesday at 6 pm. Please enter the gym entrance doors. Agenda items include the Senior Sports Awards banquet and scholarships.

NEWPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOL

■ Newport community school will run in the library today. Come get your homework done! There will be dance after school today.

■ Seniors: tomorrow is presentation day! If you have any questions please see Ms. Dugan. If you haven’t signed up for a time yet, please do so today! 

COLLEGE ADVISOR

■ This Thursday, May 3rd Bristol Community College will be visiting to share information with interested students. BCC is both an affordable and supportive opportunity. Please see Miss D if you are interested!

■ YEARBOOKS ARE ON SALE NOW!  Order your yearbook now for $60.  The deadline is this Friday, May 8th.  Please see Mr. Connell (room 306), Mrs. Kimes (room 106) or Jane Leys to purchase your yearbook.  Please make checks out to Rogers High School and write yearbook/Binnacle in the memo line.

SPORTS

■ Unified basketball backed by strong scoring performances from Shaun Perez and Jakob McCallister cruised past South Kingstown into the D3 Semifinals! The team will play at East Providence tomorrow afternoon. Davon Antone, Jordan Botehlo, Katherine Warner and Lillian Ratcliff all helped lead a balanced Viking attack.

■Boys lacrosse defeated Toll Gate 12-5. Scoring for Rogers were Cam and Liam Edward, Mitch Ventura, John Nunes, Eamon Phelps, Michael Ashby, Austin Alves and Riley Cranson.  Nick Klassner had 6 saves in net. The team improved their record to 6-1.

■ Girls lacrosse kept winning defeating Burrillville 12-5. The JVs played a competitive game but were downed by the Broncos 5-2.

■ In Middletown yesterday the Viking track and field teams absolutely dominated! Both the boys and girls teams swept their opponents. The boys remained undefeated and captured the regular season title. Eldwin Peru, Nyrell Lockhart, Osiris Parra, Laraib Iqbal, Graeme Cougher, Angelo Cuevas, Colton Kenney, Ian Hall, Sam Bond, Khalil Woodlyn, Edward Garafalo, Ty Mederios and Pete Hebda all had first-place finishes! For the girl's winners were Jianna Peno, Katrielle Hayes, Brielle Mosher, Kristina Copeland, K’yana Howard, Monique Allen, Zahria Evans, Hannah D’Amore, Leslie Ortiz, Emma Serth, and Jaden Petrie.

■The sailing team fell to East Greenwich 3 - 0.  Races were close and Tyler Miller and Colin McCabe sailed well for Rogers. Next race is the final Friday Night Lights event this week. 

■ Today golf plays Tiverton and Portsmouth at Mountaup Country Club. Baseball hosts Times Squared Academy at Cardines and softball welcomes in Prout to Toppa Field. Softball can also be heard live on WADK 1540 AM over the air or online.
