NEWPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOL
■ Newport Community School will run in the library today. Academic recovery will run for the next two weeks, students should come to the library following dismissal. Students participating in yoga with Ms. D, art or manicure Mondays please check into the library first. Transition to College students - accuplacer prep course today at CCRI at 3:30 pm.
■ Seniors: you can pick up your rubrics today in the NCS office any time after 9 am. Congratulations to those who presented last week!
■ Best Buddies will be holding a candy jar raffle during all lunches starting tomorrow, May 8th until Tuesday, May 14th. It's a dollar per guest and the winner will receive the jar of candy! If you have any questions please see best buddies Ambassador Jamel Wills for more information. Thank you!!
■ The Rogers High School Theatre Company is excited to announce its spring musical production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This family-friendly musical has been adapted for the stage from the beloved Disney film. It features everyone’s favorite songs from the animated movie and a few new ones as well. The show will feature the students and faculty of Rogers High School, so come out and support your fellow students, your teachers and the performing Arts of Rogers High School!
The Little Mermaid will be performed on Friday, May 11th at 7 pm and on Saturday, May 12th at 2 pm and 7 pm in the Rogers High School Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door, $10 general admission & $5 for students.
■ Softball Friday suffered back to back losses over the weekend. Friday they were defeated by Moses Brown in non-league action. Saturday the team lost a close 4-3 affair to Westerly. The JVs earned the lone win of the weekend beating LaSalle by a 4-3 margin in 9 innings!
■ Baseball on Friday was beaten by Classical 10-6 and turned around on Saturday to deliver Middletown a 9-6 loss in a non-league matchup.
■ On Saturday the girls' lacrosse team remained undefeated posting a 15-8 win over Scituate. The boys on Friday also won defeating Exeter/West Greenwich.
■Saturday in Westerly the boys' track team placed second overall at the Moretti Invitational. Khalil Woodlyn was first in the pole vault, Ed Garafalo the winner in the triple jump and with a new school record throw Ian Hall took the honors in the javelin throw.
