NEWPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOL

■ Today will be Newport Community Schools last day for the school year. Come get your homework and makeup work done. Transportation home is at 4:15.  Any questions see Ms. Dugan. 

BLOOD DRIVE

■ On Wednesday, May 30th, RHS will be hosting a blood drive in memory of McKenzie Leno from 12 pm - 8 pm.  Sign-ups will be on Thursday, May 24th and Tuesday, May 29th in the cafeteria during all three lunches. Please see Mikayla Ventura or Brielle Mosher with any questions. 

SENIORS

■ Seniors: if you still need to present your senior project come to the NCS office to schedule a presentation time!

■ Attention all seniors, if you have participated AND completed at least 1 sport season this year you will be invited to the 50th Annual Rogers Athletics Boosters Senior Sports Award dinner. First, please check your school email for a link to a google form to be filled out for your award. The form must be completed by next Tuesday, May 29th in order to receive an award.

■ Seniors:  The cost for the cap and gown is $30.00.  Payment may be made in cash or by check, payable to Rogers High School and brought to the main office.  Payments are due by graduation rehearsal in June.

JUNIORS

■ Attention any Junior who has signed up to take URI Writing 104 next school year 2018/19, please plan on attending a mandatory meeting with Mrs. Rosa to review the curriculum and start the registration process with URI.  You only need to attend one meeting.  Meetings will be directly after school on Tuesday, May 29th, Thursday, May 31st, and Monday, June 4th, in Room 120.  If you cannot attend one of these meetings, with a legitimate conflict, please email Mrs. Rosa at jessicarosa@npsri.net.  

SPRING CONCERT AND SHOWCASE

■ The Rogers Art and Music Departments are having their Spring Concert and Showcase today, Thursday, May 24th, at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. It will feature students from Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Guitar, and Ukulele!  There will be artwork on display in the lobby from the art classes this semester as well!  Come out and support your fellow students and enjoy a night of exciting music and art!

SPORTS

■Rogers Sailing Team Hosted the RI Sailing State Championships yesterday at Sail Newport. Viking sailors sailed well and placed 6th overall out of 14 teams. Skipper Tyler Miller and crew Emma Porter sailed well in A fleet. Skipper Colin McCabe and crew Eliza Taylor sailed well in B fleet, notching the best single finish for the Vikings with a third in the last race of the day.

■Rogers boys track and field team competed in the freshman state championship yesterday. The boys placed 4th out of over 40 teams with 43 points. Ian Hall won the javelin and finished 2nd in the shot put. Kaiden Medeiros was 6th in the pole vault, and Parker Hagen finished 3rd in the triple jump. Angelo Cuevas was 3rd in the 400, 4x800 along with Michael Phelps, Will Farley, and Manny Simes and 4x400 along with Will Farley, Damon Madison, Manny Simes. Jacobi Garner, Anthony Forest, Cameron Brown and Sylvester London all hagood days as well! 

■This afternoon the girls freshman track team will compete in their state championship.

■ Join us out at the track this afternoon for playoff lacrosse! The top seeded girls will host Tiverton at 3:45 followed by the boys at 5:30. The boys will host North Providence.

■ Cheerleading try-outs for next Fall will be held on Tuesday, May 29th and Thursday, May 31st from 6-8pm in the gym. All interested MUST attend both evenings! Participants should wear appropriate clothing, NO jeans or jewelry. The try-out is closed and not open to family, friends or other spectators. 2018/19 RHS START TIMES

■ Effective September 2018, the new start times for RHS will be as follows:  Bell at 7:25 and classes 7:30 am to 2:00 pm.
