■ This past Saturday the Rogers JROTC Raiders team earned third place trophies in several events at the annual Raider Challenge competition in New Britain, Connecticut.  Congratulations Viking Battalion!"

■ Yesterday at Brown University the girl's lacrosse team defeated Westerly to win the RI Division III State Title. It capped an undefeated season, 17 wins, and the program's first title! Jane Leys scored four times and added an assist. Fellow senior Faye Callahan netted two goals including the game-winner. Emma Daigneault also tallied two goals and Liza Nunes one. Olivia Nunes, Rose Kutsaftis, Emma Leach and Crystal Fuerte on defense kept a potent Westerly attack at bay. When the Bulldogs did break through Tess Nunes was there and recorded  10 spectacular saves. Many of which came early in the game and sparked the Vikings momentum in the first half. Congratulations ladies and thank you to all the supporters who showed up throughout the season to cheer them on!

■Saturday at Brown Stadium the RI State Track & Field Championships were held. Jianna Peno earned the Lady Vikings lone point on the day in the shot put. Kristina Copeland had a personal best but finished off the podium in the long jump. The boys amassed 25 points to finish 9th overall. Freshman Ian Hall had the best day for Rogers as he was crowned the RI champion in the javelin! Ian completed an undefeated season of his own, winning the javelin in every meet he entered. The boys fared well in the triple jump where Ty Medeiros and Ed Garafalo placed 2nd and 4th. Nyrell Lockhart turned in two 6th place performances; one in the 400 and the other in the 4x400 relay along with teammates Graeme Clougher, Osiris Parra and Eldwin Peru. That quartet broke their own school record they set just a week ago!

■ Softball continued their winning ways upending top-seeded Prout Saturday afternoon 12-2 at RI College. The pitching of Shannon Ward, fielding of Kenzie Palmer and Izzy Booth and the bats of Phoebe MacDonald and Lilly Bestoso all factored into the win. With the win, the girls have advanced in the winner's bracket and will face the #2 seed Barrington Eagles this afternoon at 5 pm back at RI College. Tickets are $5 at the gate.

■The Division III baseball regular season co-champions ran out of home-field magic this post-season. The boys suffered a gut-wrenching come from behind loss to Classical on Friday evening. Only to turn around and have to face a talented pitcher from Hope High School the next night. The losses end the boys season and Vikings careers of Jay Moniz, Ian Iamele, Hunter Hansen, Tyler Strain, Alex Garcia and James Paiva.

■Tonight at 6pm the following members of the boys lacrosse team have been selected to play in the RI Boys Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Star game in  East Greenwich. Congratulations to John Nunes, Cam Edward, Mitch Ventura, Riley Cranson and Lance Spears!
