Day 2


■All Rogers students: Do you want to have another awesome Spirit Week?  Are you interested in having a say about how our school operates?  Please consider joining our student council.  We will have two informational meetings after school this week on Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th at 2:15 – 2:45pm.  We hope to see you there for either of these meetings.   Any questions please speak directly with Mr. Kimes, room 406."


■ The SMILE Program, Science, Math and Investigative Learning Experiences is meeting Wednesday in the Library after school.  Come to the first meeting and see what we are all about - weekly get togethers with great refreshments, field trips, and a yearly weekend challenge at URI.  Stop by and join us. 


■ Today is National Voter Registration Day. There will be registrations available during lunch if you are at least 16 years of age.


■Newport Community School starts today after school in the library! Come get your homework or makeup work done. Transportation provided home at 4pm. 

Interested in becoming a CNA? See Ms. Dugan in the NCS office for more information! Class limited to 10 students. 

■ Do you want to help others? Join the Newport Community School's Community Involvement Club to learn the benefits of volunteering in the community. Come for the informational meeting on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 2pm in the cafeteria.  The first meeting will be on Thursday September 27, 2018 at 2pm. Transportation provided home at 4pm. See Ms. Arruda for more information! 


■ The Rogers High School Hydro Robotics Team is looking for new crew members. If the underwater world and robotics have ever interested you, please stop by room 212 and speak to Mr. Dickison to see what all the fun is about.  Meetings are Tuesday after school!


■ Picture retakes will be this Friday, September 28th.   Retakes are for students who missed picture day or students who received photos that would like a retake.  If you would like a retake for pictures that were sent home please bring them back to the photographer with a $5 processing fee and she will retake your picture on Friday.  Retakes on student ID’s will not be taken unless the student is purchasing a package.


■ There will be a quick meeting for any boy interested in playing lacrosse for Rogers immediately after school in the cafeteria today.  This is for returning players and any potential new players.


■ Rogers High School will hold their Open House on Sept. 27th from 5 to 7pm. There will be a parent/guardian meet and greet presentation in the auditorium from 5:00 to 5:30 than parent/guardian may proceed to classrooms.

We have some great presentations and initiatives happening that night. We will discuss NEASC, Vision of the Graduate, Vaping Parent Presentation and PTO recruiting. We will also have a "Vision of the Graduate" activity for families just outside of the Gymnasium, in front of the main office we will have a PTO sign up table and in the cafeteria we will be setting up Chromebooks in order for families to complete a NEASC Survey. Finally, we will be having the Vaping presentation in the library (Click here for attachment2nd attachment).


■ La escuela secundaria Rogers High School celebrará su jornada de puertas abiertas el 27 de Septiembre de 5:00 a 7:00 PM. Habrá una reunión de padres/tutores para saludar en el auditorio. Luego de 5:00 a 5:30 de la tarde  los padres/tutores pueden ir a los salones de clases.

Tenemos algunas grandes presentaciones e iniciativas que sucederán esa noche. Hablaremos de NEASC, visión para graduarse, vaping presentación de padres y reclutamiento de PTO. También tendremos una actividad de "visión de los graduados" para las familias que están justo afuera del gimnasio, frente a la oficina principal tendremos una mesa de inscripción de PTO y en la cafetería estaremos configurando Chromebooks para que las familias completen una encuesta de NEASC. Finalmente, tendremos la presentación de Vaping en la biblioteca.
