■Congratulations to the volleyball team who on Saturday in thrilling fashion captured the D3 State Championship! It is the program's second title in 3 years. In heart-stopping drama, the girls found themselves down 0-2 to St. Ray's but the Saints would win no more. The Lady Vikings roared back behind strong serving from Shannon Ward, Katherine Capras and Julie D'Amore. Marianna May and Mia Mojica were defensive forces at the net while Keanna McCants set Sophie Breitenbach for numerous kills. The team and coaches would like to thank all their loyal fans for support all season long.

■Tomorrow immediately after school in the health room (next to the gym) there will be a meeting for all girls interested in learning more about the gymnastics team. Please make every effort to attend.

■ The Rhode Island Broadcasting Association has the quickest and easiest way for the public to find out about statewide school closings with its text alert web page, allowing computer and mobile phone users to sign up for text message and email alerts.   Rhode Island school districts including the Newport School Department are included in the RIBA list.  To sign up, users are required to provide a name and ZIP code, as well as a phone number or email address. The system will then send a test email or text message, and in the case of text messages, include a code to enter to confirm sign-up.  Click here to sign up for RI Broadcasters Alert System

■ The 2018-2019 School Calendar has been revised to reflect no school on parent-teacher conference days, school in session on 24 May 2019 and 7 June 2019.  The teacher professional development day originally scheduled for June 7, 2019 has been rescheduled to June 18, 2019, the day after school ends.
