MOCK TRIAL

■ The Viking Litigators Mock Trial team was victorious in its trial versus Portsmouth on Wednesday. Miren Arambarri, Noah Manuel and Bobby Zeller in his first trial as an attorney, were singled out by the trial judges for special mention, but the entire team performed magnificently. Aubrey Baker, Ryan Collum, Christine Sicilian and Julia McGinn's talents were a major factor in the team's victory.

CLASS OF 2021

■ There will be a Chili’s fundraiser to support the class of 2021 on Monday, January 21st. Everyone is encouraged to come and help raise some money!

CLASS OF 2019

■ The Class of 2019 is hosting a Blackout Dance on Saturday, January 26th from 7-10 pm in the Gymnasium. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased in advance. Please find the class officers at lunch or see Ms. Stump in room 813. If you wish to purchase tickets next week please do so at 10:35 am when exams are finished. Tickets will not be sold at the door and students must arrive before 8 pm. Hope to see you there!

NEWPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOL

■ Newport Community School will run in the library today after school. Come get your homework and make up work done!

■ Earn three free college credits! Transition to college will start at CCRI in one week! See Ms. Dugan to register in room 125. 

DRIVER EDUCATION

■ The next available Driver Education classes in Newport County are about to start.  You must be at least 15 years 10 months in age in order to enroll.  If you are interested, you can pick up information in the Main office or on line at www.newportcountydrivingschool.com

PROJECT PURPLE

■ Today is the last day to take the National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week Challenge!  See Mrs. Ruth at lunch, complete the Challenge, and enter the raffle to win Project Purple Gear.  Raffle winners will be announced Friday, January 18th.

■ Thursday, January 17th, National Drug & Alcohol Week Fact of the Day

The long-term effects of marijuana use on the brain and body are:

     -problems with memory and learning skills

     -problems with breathing

     -cough or lung sickness

     -severe nausea and vomitting.

SPORTS

■ Today, immediately after school there will be a meeting for all interested in learning more about the lacrosse team.  Boys will meet in the Health room and girls will be in room 104.
