Freshman Academy SY 2019/2020

Hello Rogers High School Community and rising Freshman Families,

Rogers High School is excited to announce that beginning in the 2019-20 school year, our incoming 9th grade students will be the first cohort of students to participate in our freshman academy. Research and experience has shown that the 9th grade year is one of the most important school years in order to set students up for success. For many students it is one of the most stressful and challenging school years. As an institution, we recognize these concerns and are looking for ways to support our students and change the narrative for many of our Freshman.
An "academy" model is similar to teaming like in many middle schools throughout the country. Rogers will be breaking the 9th grade class into two balanced teams and these two teams will have dedicated staff who will have time to meet together in order to discuss student needs and supports. The opportunities to build relationships and a sense of community will be often and rich. It is our hopes that through this experience,  all of our incoming 9th graders will have a successful first year in high school and be on the road towards college and career readiness.
Attached you will find a document which outlines the basics of our 9th grade academy and may answer some initial questions. Please keep an eye out for information regarding a 9th grade student/parent informational night, as well as, information regarding Rogers 101 and team building opportunities this summer time.
