Grades will not be discussed during class time. Discussions about grades and revisions should take place before or after school.

Attendance:  It is the student’s responsibility to make up all work after an excused absence.  Make-up work for unexcused absences may be given at teacher discretion. * Make-up work requests should be made outside of class time.

Note: Requests for class work during an extended period of absence must go through the Guidance Department.

Homework: Homework/extended study is a vital component of the classroom. All extended study assignments must be brought to class on the day they are due.  Late homework will not be accepted. Learning activities (e.g., seminar discussions) often depend upon full participation of all students in extended study, and incomplete or late work has a negative impact on everyone.

Writing Assignments and Projects: All writing assignments are to be completed in MLA format.  Most papers will require demonstration that steps in the writing process have been followed.

Printing Policy: All major assignments must be typed and in MLA format. A printed copy of your work is expected on the due date. No papers are to be emailed. If there is an issue with your home printer, an email must be sent the night prior to the deadline and arrangements for the morning to print in the computer lab.

Late Work Policy: Major assignments must be submitted on time in order to receive full credit. Ten points will be deducted from the earned grade if submitted one day late. The highest grade a student can achieve after the second day is a 75.

Revisions:

•     Required revisions: Ongoing revision is required for any student not achieving proficiency on a benchmark.  If proficiency has not been achieved by the end of the grading period, a grade of Incomplete will be given for that quarter. You will have two weeks to make up the missing work or else the Incomplete will turn to an F for the quarter.

After School Help: I will be available after school Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for anyone in need of help or anyone wishing to discuss grades. If I will be unavailable on a certain day, I will make an announcement the day before.

*Additionally, extra support is available through the Community School which provides students with the opportunity to have access to the library and computers labs as well as a teacher from the core disciplines.

Plagiarism Policy:  Every student is expected to produce original, authentic work. If there is a misrepresentation of work, the student will receive a zero and parent(s)/guardian(s) will be contacted. If a second offense occurs, the Dean of Students will be notified as well and disciplinary action will be taken.
