Department: Social Studies Teacher: Mr. Kuriscak
Course Title: World History
Objectives: Students will have an understanding of the history of the world from early civilizations to modern times, politically, socially, and economically.
Student Requirements: Students are required to come to class on time each day with a covered textbook, 3 ring binder (1 inch), and a writing utensil. Students are also required to be attentive and respectful to the teacher and each other. All work will be kept in the student’s portfolio.
Books, Materials, & Supplies: Textbook (World History- The Modern Era), maps, primary and secondary readings, documentaries/educational films, and a 3 ring binder.
Grading Policy:
Tests – 35%
Quizzes – 25% (lowest quiz score is dropped each quarter)
BiWeekly Reports – 20% (4-5 per quarter)
Homework/Classwork – 20%
Makeup Work: All work must be made up after the student, with an excused absence, returns to school. Students have one day to make up the work for every one day absent. It is the student’s responsibility to determine what assignments were missed and obtain the needed materials from the teacher. If a student is found to have cut the class, a grade of zero will be given for that day’s work including any tests, quizzes, or projects that were due on that day.
Classroom Rules:
All school rules will be enforced in my classroom.
Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings. (Check the board)
You cannot disrupt others from learning or the teacher from teaching.
Have respect for yourself, others and the teacher at all times. (Golden Rule)
Teacher Availability: Monday-Thursday 2:00-4:00 in room 900.
