 COURSE PROFILE

 COURSE TITLE:  Numeracy for Algebra 1

 DEPARTMENT:      MATH                                    TEACHER: Mr. Hackman

 OBJECTIVES:

1)       Students will demonstrate achievement of the academic expectations for mathematics as listed in the “Expectations for Student Learning” Document.

2)       Students will achieve standards as listed in the Common Core Standards.

 

 STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:

1)       Students must meet all requirements listed on the RHS Math Department Profile.

2)       Students are required to attend class regularly and promptly and to come prepared to learn.

3)       Numeracy is a support course which requires concentrated daily study, both in and out of class.

4)   Students are required to maintain and use a notebook.

 

BOOKS, MATERIALS, SUPPLIES:

1)       Teacher-provided resources and student text from his/her current math class

2)       Students will have access to a scientific calculator for use in the classroom.

3)       Students will have access to online math materials

 

GRADING POLICY:

            1)  Quizzes - 20% of quarterly grade

            2)  Classwork – 70% of quarterly grade

            3)  Class Participation - 10% of quarterly grade

            4)  This is a Pass/Fail course.

 

MAKE-UP WORK:  It is the responsibility of the student to obtain and make up all work (graded and

           ungraded) missed due to an excused absence.  All work missed due to absence must be made up

within one week of the date assigned.  Failure to make-up work will result in a grade of ZERO for the assignment.

 

CLASSROOM RULES:

1)       Students will observe all rules and regulations as outlined in the Student Handbook.

2)       Class will be conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

 

TIMES AVAILABLE FOR CONFERENCES, TUTORING, EXTRA HELP: 

Mr. Hackman will be available most days  after school to meet with students for extra help.  Students should inform Mr. Hackman during the day that they will be coming for help.  My email address is TheodoreHackman@npsri.net
