I love working at Thompson Middle School because I am a native of Newport who attended Thompson Middle School and graduated from Rogers High School in 1979. My students remind me of myself when I was their age. My education includes a Bachelor Degree from the University of Rhode Island in Elementary Education with addtional certifications in Special Education, Science and Social Studies.

After teaching grade 8 science and grade 5 at Gaudet Middle School in Middletown for 10 years I realized that students had difficulty reading and comprehending content text. This led me to earn a Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy from Roger Williams University. Most recently, I earned a National Board Certification in Reading, ELA and Literacy. I have been teaching at Thompson for 15 years.

I am the mother of 4 graduates of Rogers High School and grandmother of 4. I enjoy gardening, walking and  anything at the beach. My most recent new learning was stand up paddleboarding! I hope to refine my skills next summer.
