Thompson Middle School Veterans Day Assembly

On November 10th, Thompson Middle School hosted their 10th Annual Veterans Day Assembly to thank our veterans for their sacrifices and service to our country. They were joined by the Rogers High School JROTC Color Guard, the TMS Advanced Band, 5th grade students and several honorable veterans. Mrs. Benoit's sister-in-law, Sergeant First Class Sheila Benoit, was the keynote speaker and shared her experience of being a bilingual member of the Army for 21 years. She shared with the students that being bilingual is a super power that all of us should try to obtain. Students read poems and sang the TMS fight song. Principal Browner also played the opening song on the piano and took the opportunity to say thank you to his veteran father- Michael Browner, Sr. It was a very special event to honor the brave men and women who have served our country! Great job Thompson Middle School honoring our veterans!

In addition, TMS Fifth Graders were recognized by Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos at a special ceremony for their participation in Operation Holiday Cheer held this year in Middletown. TMS 5th graders made special holiday cards to share with active duty members. See photos of Ms. Turner as she reads the proclamation to the grade 5 class on Veteran’s Day and our wonderful teachers receiving the award from the Lt. Governor in Middletown last week.
