Why Volunteer:

Whether your kids are just starting kindergarten or entering the final year of high school, there are many good reasons for parents to volunteer at school. It's a great way to show your kids that you take an interest in their education, and it sends a positive message that you consider school a worthwhile cause.

Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, the children are more likely to:

• earn better grades.

• score higher on tests.

• pass their classes.

• attend school regularly.

• have better social skills.

• show improved behavior.

• be more positive in their attitude toward school.

• complete homework assignments.

• graduate and continue their education.

How to Volunteer:

Pell school is always in search of great parent and community volunteers to help out in many different areas of the school.  Classroom volunteers, recess help, craft prep, after school program helpers, walking school bus escorts  and office help are all in huge demand. We even have many projects that can be done from home. There is an opportunity to fit everyone!

BCI Check:

All volunteers must submit and pass a local BCI check. To compete this process, please download and fill out the attached BCI form, have it notarized (we have 2 notaries in the school building for your convenience) and deliver it to the Newport Police Department with a check for $5 made out to the Newport Police. If this is a burden for you, you may drop the form off at Pell and we will get it to the police.  Approval will come straight to the school department and we will inform you when you are cleared to volunteer. This should take about 1 week.
