Speech and Language
Speech and Language: What's the difference?
Speech is the production, sequencing, and clarity of sounds. We look at sounds at the beginning, middle, and end of words. We look at clarity in connected speech.
Language is the way we use words to communicate.
Receptive language is how we understand language. This means following directions and answering questions.
Expressive language is how we use words to express our thoughts and knowledge.
Pragmatic language is the social use of language. It is how we use language to interact and be social with others.
