Newport Public Schools

February is Career & Technical Education Month, and we’re highlighting the many programs Newport offers at our Newport Area and Career Technical Center - NACTC . There, students are engaged in many projects like our Visual Arts students participating in the Aquidneck Island Land Trust’s art contest. This event shows how talented many of our future artists are and how they are thriving in our programs. For the competition, students created artwork inspired by the beauty of Aquidneck Island. The work will be on display at the Newport Art Museum. Currently, student work for the exhibition at the DeBlois Art Gallery is already open to the public. Clay Cady, a CTE Visual Arts student had his work - “The Muse” - a portrait of Frida Kahlo, chosen to be on the DeBlois Gallery High School Student Art Show postcard. Great job and congratulations to all of our talented NACTC Visual Arts students!

Mes de la Educación Profesional y Técnica: Artes Visuales - Febrero es el Mes de la Educación Profesional y Técnica, y estamos destacando los muchos programas que Newport ofrece en nuestro Centro de Educación Profesional y Técnica del Área de Newport (NACTC). Allí, los estudiantes participan en muchos proyectos, como nuestros estudiantes de Artes Visuales que participan en el concurso de arte de Aquidneck Island Land Trust. Este evento muestra cuán talentosos son muchos de nuestros futuros artistas y cómo están prosperando en nuestros programas. Para el concurso, los estudiantes crearon obras de arte inspiradas en la belleza de Aquidneck Island. El trabajo se exhibirá en el Museo de Arte de Newport. Actualmente, el trabajo de los estudiantes para la exhibición en la Galería de Arte DeBlois ya está abierto al público. Clay Cady, un estudiante de Artes Visuales de CTE, tuvo su trabajo - "La musa" - un retrato de Frida Kahlo, elegido para estar en la postal de la Exposición de Arte de Estudiantes de la Escuela Secundaria de la Galería DeBlois. ¡Excelente trabajo y felicitaciones a todos nuestros talentosos estudiantes de Artes Visuales de NACTC!
