The Rhode Island Association for the Education of Young Children
(RIAEYC) and BrightStars are proud to announce that Champion Childcare, operated by
The Newport Family and Child Opportunity Zone, a program of East Bay Community
Action Program, has achieved a 5 Star Rating- the highest rating for licensed child care
programs in the state. Champion Childcare is located at Claiborne Pell Elementary School in
Newport. Launched in 2009, BrightStars is Rhode Island’s Quality Rating and Improvement
System for child care and early learning programs.
