Pell Elementary School

April 11, 2024 Dear Parent/Guardian, Today we had to evacuate the building due to a strong odor of gas. Out of an abundance of caution, a team consisting of the Newport Fire Department and Rhode Island Energy was called to Pell to assess the situation. After a thorough investigation, the team deemed the building safe for students to return. At no time were students unsafe or in any danger. This is the second incident this week regarding a strong odor of gas. Both incidents have been investigated and are unrelated. The first incident had to do with our boiler. The second incident involved one of our rooftop ventilation units. Both items have been addressed and are undergoing repairs. Safety is our number one priority. Open House: Tuesday, Sep 26, 2023 4:30-5:30- PK,Kindergarten, Grade 1 5:30-6:30- Grade 2,3,and 4 Pell School’s Open House will be held by grade level groups. Please look at the schedule above to see which time is assigned to your child’s(ren) . Teachers will be in their classrooms during their assigned grade level times. Please note we are asking that you come during the assigned times to assist with parking. Children may attend but should remain with you during your time at the school.

Good Morning, Due to the Jewish Holiday, Yom Kippur (Sunday, September 24th-Monday, September 25th), our Pre-K, First Grade and Second Grade Open House which was scheduled for Monday, September 25th, will be rescheduled to Tuesday, September 26th from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there. There will be no change to the Second, Third and Fourth Grade Open House.

Pell Students at the Ocean Live Park during the Ocean Race Stopover. They participated in hands-on activities, visited sustainability exhibits, & interactive understanding of ocean health with impact changes that can be made by all in the Exploration Zone.

Good Evening Pell families In an abundance of caution with the predicted snow fall Pell School will be closed for Tuesday February 28th. This is a traditional snow day and there are no academic expectations for the day. Enjoy the snow!
