Special Education & Related
Services for Our Students

The Newport Public Schools provides services to identified students starting at age three, through age twenty-one or their high school graduation.  Should you suspect that your child may have a disability which adversely impacts his/her education, please talk to your school principal to make a referral for a special education evaluation.

Decisions about special education assessment, eligibility, and services are always made with parents involved as full participants.

If you are relocating to Newport and your child has an Individual Education Program (IEP) from another school district, please share this information at or before registration.  The Office of Student Services will review the supports and services that your child needs, and make a plan for the IEP to be honored by our district. Our direct office FAX number is (401) 849-0170.  Please send confidential student records to this secure FAX.
